Information in the book is great, however the book arrived with the binding already torn and detached from the book. It is disappointing that a book can arrive in this condition

Just got it today. Couple of notes – it does take a while to arrive. Mine was definitely over the estimate but it’s the times.

When I got it the only minus as you see in the pics – the book came right off the backing. It seems like it was missing glue to connect it to the spine so technically cover was held by thin paper.
Amazon addressed it and gave credit. I did not want to return as it is still usable. Just a bit of a meh experience in terms of product looks/quality.

Lots of info inside, which is cool, looking forward to trying it out.

I am a little more than halfway through the book. In general, I do 2-4 work-outs a week from the book, though there have been a couple weeks where I’ve done 1 (or none) since I was too busy.

I was looking for something to tell me what to do so I didn’t have to make a balanced weightlifting plan and could just go straight to working out. I also don’t have gyms near me, but I do have a weightlifting bench and dumb-bells, so this was perfect.

    Things I like:
-pre-planned!!!! the exercises are balanced among muscle groups. Very little thinking or planning necessary, I can go straight into my work-outs. For me, this removed a big hurdle that was preventing me from lifting– I wanted to make sure my weight training was balanced among my muscle groups and even though I desired to workout… I could never get around to actually planning (or finding a plan). This became my plan, and I love it!
-easy to follow, especially for me who has done some minimal weight-training before. Directions are in the back of the book for each exercise and there’s an illustration showing you what to do.
-format and look of book is nice

    Things I dislike:
-I don’t enjoy HIIT work-outs. Usually I skipped the HIIT workouts provided and substituted a full-body workout video of my choice.
-I don’t have an exercise ball and there’s a few exercises that had it– I just used my bench instead.

All in all, this is the only book of its kind that I could find, and I’ve enjoyed using it. I do feel stronger and more toned, and again, really happy that this plan is available and I didn’t have to make my own.

Journal comes spiral bound and good quality. It includes many tips and tricks for strength training and also nutrition. Throughout the journal, it provides more tips and tricks. Each workout focuses on two muscle groups with multiple exercises. Also includes descriptions for the workouts in the back of the book, or you can scan the QR code and find the descriptions online as well. The booking includes modifications to make them easier or harder as needed. I also like that it refers you back to the previous workouts where you can find your previous best weight and reps for that exercise. Four days a week are strictly strength training, focusing on two muscle groups and then the fifth day is a hit style workout, focusing on the whole body. Workouts are challenging, but can be modified to make it easier previously.

One con I have found with this book is sometimes the descriptions of the workouts can still be a little confusing. Also, if you were using the book and the QR code website together, sometimes the descriptions don’t match up exactly.

If you are looking for a good dumbbell workout to do at home, this is a great resource with exercises and a journal to track your progress!

I am a retired vet with lots of surgeries and follow-on disabilities and challenges. I have had a hard time working out and staying in shape. Tried lots of apps, never actually did them. I saw this book and bought it along with the Stretching book. I am on Day 10 and am so grateful for these books. The exercises are excellent and have a lot of variety so I don’t get bored. They are challenging to me, but I can still work the program. The stretches are very similar to many I have done in physical therapy so I know they are great. There are very good descriptions and online assistance if needed. The illustrations are great with a variety of body types and ages, so very inclusive. This is a program I will be able to continue, improve, and complete, and then I look forward to trying the Bodyweight and Yoga. I’ve lost three pounds and feel great!

This journal is a serious and friendly way to get solid strength training in at home. The content allows you to just jump right in on day one, with clear instructions and easy tracking. Im just through the first section and looking forward to seeing how I progress. If you follow the suggested format, you’ll need to dedicate probably about 45 min to an hr for each workout. Right now I have less time than that to dedicate so I’m just doing one page of exercises per workout (or about half of a full workout) All that to say, the journal provides flexibility for you to modify as needed. Only suggestion would be to provide alternative ways to perform some of the tougher exercises – for those of us without a lot of upper body strength (yet!) some modifications are needed. I know that can be a rabbit hole though and maybe there’s some info in the journal I haven’t come across yet. Overall, well designed and useful. I like having a plan!

I really like this journal so far. I’m a busy working mom and finding the mental capacity to figure out what I should do during my exercise time is frankly exhausting. Love that I can just open the book and follow the routine for the day. My girls sometimes like to workout with me. I showed them (and one of their friends) how to use the journal. We all get a workout in together now. Love that I’m setting a good example of being strong and not focusing on “skinny”. Looking forward to continued use of the journal and checking out the other ones when I’m done this one.

Book arrived with binding already breaking/ripping. Otherwise the contents are as described. I’m just wondering how long it will actually hold up..

  9. Rebecca Johnson

I love this workout journal! I have very little gym experience so I needed something that would tell me what to do and how to do it. This book is exactly that! Each exercise has a QR code that takes you to a video showing how to do it. It also gives tips and space for reflection to aid in your success. The book lays flat and has a bookmark ribbon which make it really user-friendly.

Love this book. I’m using this for my home workouts and love that it guides me properly. Takes out all the guess work completely. Very well planned out.
