Description
A 2-in-1 Boxing Training Guide. Learn the Boxing Basics and Develop Your Skills at Home.
Boxing training provides you with many benefits, but it’s very difficult to get started and see consistent progress in your boxing ability. Most coaches recommend joining a gym to get started, however, you may feel intimidated to join a boxing gym because:
- You have never boxed before and don’t know what to expect
- You feel as if you are an easy target
- People will laugh at you for being a chump.
Although gyms aren’t set up to bully newcomers, I can relate because it took me 4 months to build the courage to go to my first session. Years down the line, I am a qualified boxing coach and I teach the boxing basics to beginners who were just like me – so how did that happen?
My name is Andrew Hudson and those 4 months were the lowest of my life, I lacked confidence, I was out of shape and on multiple occasions I drove to the gym without ever stepping foot in there. The only thing that allowed me to turn my life around was by learning the boxing basics at home, just from building up a basic ability, I felt much more confident to join a gym.
After coaching all of these years, it has become apparent to me that the intimidating environment of gyms prevents beginners from getting started. Therefore, I have created this home boxing training guide to give you a strong start. You will discover the basic techniques, movements and drills to build a strong foundation with your boxing ability.
This guide is for anybody, whether you have never boxed before, or you just want to master the basics, you will benefit from this guide. As a coach, I have seen so many people go from Chump to Champ just from regular boxing training. In this guide, you’ll discover:
- What Boxing Style Suits You
- The Fundamentals of Footwork and Drills to Help You Improve
- How to Correctly Throw a Jab, Cross, Hook and Uppercut
- How to Improve Your Self-Defense Skills
- How to Develop Mental Strength
- Boxing Workouts and Nutritional Advice to Get You in Shape

This is a good starting guide for anyone interested in improving their boxing fundamentals. It covers a range of concepts for boxing novices and things to keep in mind as well as tips and advice. I agree with some of the comments saying that it could have used more illustrations and photos, or even better links to videos. Nothing beats a visual to show how to do the poses and moves properly.

We picked our boxing classes back up in time for the new year, and this has been a great addition. Very solid on teaching the basics. How to master footwork etc before advancing to more complicated techniques. Overall very good.

The book’s format is coherent and intelligently planned, systematically leading the reader from the foundational elements of boxing, including posture and footwork, progressing to defensive maneuvers and a range of punch sequences. Its language is simple and direct, ensuring that readers from diverse boxing experience levels can easily understand the content. Recommended.

The author clearly knows about boxing and has the material laid out in a very organized manner. The only drawback is that this would be much easier as a YouTube video series to watch and examine, but for the boxer who love to read, it’s as good as it gets.

I bought this looking to tighten up some basics while shedding some pounds for a big event. I thoroughly enjoyed the programs within. This is an excellent beginner’s guide for those looking to use boxing in their workouts. (And honestly boxing is way more fun than the treadmill.)

My son has been interested in “getting into boxing” but I fear he may be intimidated by going to the boxing gym for the first time. This beginning boxing guide is a game-changer for beginners like him. Overcoming his own gym intimidation, he begins with at-home basics, making boxing accessible to everyone. I’m excited to buy this for my son for Christmas!

This book (includes both parts) is a great resource for a beginning boxer. I agree with some other reviews that more illustrative pictures would be helpful – but I believe that an athlete (who is a beginning boxer) will understand most all of the descriptions. Comprehensive coverage of the basics. Well done!
