  1. MagikBoy

Long time runner, first time buying a treadmill. The criteria I needed were: good sized running track, decent motor, foldable for smaller spaces.

The design is a thing of beauty. Even unboxing was a breeze.

I’ve only had it for about a week, and have lubricated the belt ( per instructions using the lube included) and have done 4 short runs. It worked “out of the box”.

I couldn’t be happier with the product. As others have stated, it seems sturdy and well made.

A few things to consider that I don’t remember seeing in other reviews:

    1. Canadian buyers- I do not believe we get a true warranty through Sunny Health. I called them before buying and got through easily, and understand they are available to do troubleshooting but I will have to purchase any parts that might break. This was the biggest deterrent to buying for me, because alot of other brands offer impressive warranties. BUT I wasn’t able to find a comparable treadmill with the features I wanted + good reviews, so I took a chance on it. – so far, so good.

    2. Wait for a sale: In my opinion, this is not a $1000/$1200 treadmill, and the price of this product fluctuates a lot if you can wait and watch for a few months. If your on a budget ( or just frugal) wait for a sale. I purchased for less than half the current posted price during black Friday week.

    3. Watch the weight limit. The weight limitation is on the lower side. ( 220 lbs) which is fine for me, and even my husband, but we have friends and family who wouldn’t be able to use it, which is a shame. Maybe this is just the a result of it’s compact nature. Ones with higher weight limits usually had a bigger footprint and definitely do not fold up as well.

That’s all for now! I’ll come back and update later if something breaks or it keeps going strong months down the road.

  2. MagikBoy

Asuna treadmill appears well-designed, hopefully rugged. Advanced features like incline, maneuverable for small spaces & gets out of the way. On first use, an amazing product.

Amazon delivered on-time; delivery guys were willing to carry up some steps & into the house. Packaging was damaged: it appears someone speared the box with a forklift fork, but missed the product: no apparent damage, so I got lucky. Packaging is robust, product well-secured inside, but not overly difficult to unpack.

Setup is minimal: install some handholds with provided tools. Their hex wrench is awkwardly oversized: supply your own if possible. A hex-head screwdriver set works well, but again it’s only 4 machine screws so no big deal.

Lubricating the belt isn’t hard & will become part of regular maintenance for any treadmill. They supply your first small bottle of lube. It’s easy for this process to become messy so put down some paper to protect carpet/floor & expect the lube bottle to be fouled. You’re using a thick viscous silicone oil but it does wipe up/wash off; just don’t get it into carpet.

Ease of movement/daily setup: the unit is heavy for moving around but well-balanced & on wheels. One side has lateral-movement (R-L) wheels; rocked the other way the wheels run forward/backward. So by tilting a little you can roll the treadmill upright in any direction: nice. It rolls easily on hardwood floors; on low/short pile carpet a little less so (small wheels) but still quite doable. Deep shag: you’ll be in trouble. Folded up it stacks nicely against the wall, taking up a space 30 x 15″. You’ll want to allow a few additional inches width to maneuver it into place. It’s quite stable against the wall, but if you have small children you had better ensure it can’t be pulled over accidentally: a cord around it, perhaps. Tipping it over is extremely unlikely but it IS heavy & could seriously harm a child if they succeeded in pulling it down on themselves.

Floor support: you’ll want a rubber mat of some sort for any treadmill, to minimize wear-&-tear on the floor surface & perhaps minimize noise transmission. On carpet that mat had better be pretty robust: the treadmill rests on four points, two of which are smallish & two of which include the motor housing. You don’t want compressed carpet up against the motor housing: that’ll limit airflow for cooling & encourage dust build-up in the motor. PVC mats for workouts compress; use real rubber instead. Makes for a heavy mat to lay down & roll up, but an ounce of prevention saves a lot of worries later.

Laying the machine down isn’t overly hard but it is at the top end of what you’d want to manipulate. Figure a lift of 30-40 lbs. Step on the red lever & lift the folding rail: that isn’t hard.

Plugging in: the power socket for the cord is poorly marked. Find it on the bottom edge of the front of the machine, facing down. Beside it, also poorly marked (not even identified in the manual) find the rocker switch to turn on the machine. The manual is a mix of very detailed parts-list & VERY sparse instructions, but it is written in good English.

The display runs the width of the unit with incline buttons & read-out on the left, speed on the right. All pretty intuitive. Handholds provide up & down buttons to manipulate speed or incline by single-digit degrees: nice & ergonomic. Changes in speed & inclination are gradual but speedy. The rail provides a media shelf for a laptop or phone, & they’ve provided a cable to provide sound to speakers on the treadmill. I haven’t tested that; most phones no longer provide a phono (headphone) jack so you might need a tablet for that. There is no fan; that would increase weight, & it’s trivial to place a fan where you want it. Sunny has prioritized necessary features & minimized fluff to keep the weight down: smart.

Noise: absolutely minimal. The treadmill is quiet, as quiet as it likely could be. You won’t wake or irritate the neighbours. That’s impressive. Sound doesn’t appear to increase much with speed, though there’ll be inevitable foot-fall noise as you shift to running. I’ll be mostly walking on it, but this treadmill isn’t just a walking mat: it can run fast enough to give you a good run. Add the ability to incline (claimed 12 degrees but I haven’t measured it) & you can get a really good workout if you’re not an olympic hopeful.

The machine appears robust. Definitely home-grade: something intended for commercial gyms would be built of steel & not moveable. This is constructed of aluminum & intended to be portable, but appears pretty robust despite that. Motor is in the 2 HP range: acceptable but the only long-term worry. The threshold for a robust commercial-grade home machine is generally accepted as 3.5HP; less & providers report increased maintenance worries & shorter lifespan. Mitigate that: buy Amazon’s long-term warranty: cost is quite reasonable & I’ve found it easy to invoke with occasional IT hardware failures. Your credit card may add warranty coverage: mine doubles the life of any manufacturer OR added warranty as a free benefit. Worth seeking this if you’re shopping credit cards. But the motor appears robust enough: time will tell. That would be the one upgrade I’d encourage Sunny Fitness to look at. Motor tech is changing rapidly; simply switching to brushless motor (if they haven’t already) would add 20-30% hp without increasing the weight of the unit, which they’d want to avoid.

Exercise equipment has changed dramatically 2022: everyone is chasing monthly billings as a revenue stream, pitching their service offerings as similar to Peloton. Who doesn’t want to charge for the machine, then get annual billings of many hundreds of dollars? Ka-ching! Fight this!! It’s a benefit to their finance dept, not to you as a customer. Sunny has provided a well-rounded robust machine with internal programs, ease of use to vary your workout, all in a stand-alone unit that won’t ding you monthly. Here’s hoping they don’t drop the product & join the shift to monthly billing.

This product appears unique: no one else offers high-end features (speed, incline) in a roll-away storable unit. There are small-ish folding units where the platform tilts up, but they still eat up 35″+ of space & aren’t really easily movable; this moves easily & eats up 9″ from the wall. Wow. Is there effort involved in packing it up? Sure, but not overly. In small spaces this gets out of the way. Does it connect to the web for Peloton-like programming? No: that’s more a benefit to the provider’s monthly revenue stream than it is a benefit to you.

I’ll try to provide an update with more extended use, but for now I’m really happy with my purchase. It felt like a gamble to risk $1,000 on a Chinese-made product from a manufacturer that has zero presence in the US, esp the exercise community there. There are no industry reviews. But it appears so far that the gamble has paid off: Sunny Fitness has made a sufficiently robust well-designed niche product that offers advanced features (speed, incline) in an ergonomic, portable, easily set up & movable treadmill that (hopefully) will go the distance. I’m really impressed. And again, Amazon’s available add-on warranty takes a lot of the risk out of it.

  3. Amazon Customer

This machine was everything we were looking for and more. After it arrived it was better than we even thought too!
In no particular order it is:

    -pleasing to look at
-surprisingly easy set up even right out of the box
-as our lives and space needs change, this machine needed to be able to adapt to it, and so far it does
-not too heavy for me to maneuver, despite my health challenges
-sturdy and I do not fear having to replace it anytime soon
-the control bar is placed in an optimal position in relation to the track – it isn’t to the far front
-the length of the track is not too long or short
-side storage slot for the control bar & handle tightening tool was an important feature, keeping everything in one space
-enjoy that you don’t have to separately screw on the hand bars like other models
-during the workout, the control bar also flashes between the time of session and steps, this is a nice bonus, even though I wear a FITBIT
-there isn’t a feature that we find wanting
-there isn’t a feature that we won’t be using daily, either (except for maybe the speakers, as we will use Alexa or earbuds more often, but we will still make use of this)
-the perfect price point for both quality and economical value

-we planned to put it away after each session, but have kept it out, and this is not due to issues with putting it away, but b/c it isn’t an eyesore (despite limited space and large windows we want to keep unobstructed) and we are using it more than we thought.

*We bought a 6-pack of Excercise Equipment pads from Amazon. This helps to muffle the vibrations on the floor, even though we feel it is already pretty quiet, and it is on an area rug or will be used on low carpet, we find this increases the barrier between us and those in the unit bellow.

-I was looking for something that had a higher maximum speed, and this fit the bill. My goal is to walk daily or do HIIT sessions 2-3 times a week. I am a slow sprinter for now, so as I am healing this will be a great service! I’m only just walking right now. (walking or HIIT are optimal exercises overall)

BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND! This unit serves us in all areas this way.

Our entire family has been using it multiple times a day. My husband is picky and prefers more uneven terrain outside, but still finds this quite pleasurable and my children (12 and 14) are enjoying it a lot and have plans to use it every day as they know the benefits of walking, and they even break out into some light interval sprints.

I am a 39-year-old female who is also a homeschool mom. I have always been somewhat active, lean, and flexible. I was homebound 7-9 months last year, I then had 4 months beginning in November that I could leave, and with spring this year I am again homebound. I am very busy indoors, but I am not able to get enough steps within our loft apartment/condo. (I much prefer this above pacing) Due to this, the muscles in my legs have developed a limited range of motion, despite some other exercises and stretches. This issue has gotten so bad that I have continual knee pain on one side and I can only get up from sitting or the floor slowly. I have also gained almost 10 pounds and now weigh more than I ever have. (This doesn’t include 2 pregnancies)

Initially, my legs get a workout at around the ~10-minute mark at about 2 mph, but I am breaking up a few different 10-minute sessions throughout the day. My goal is to get to 60+ minutes a day.

I am utilizing the MELT Method by Sue Hitzmann to help with this adjustment period as well as for multiple other benefits. I am also doing The Happy Body Program by Jerzy. Finally, I am in the middle of doing brain retraining with Dynamic Neural Retraining Program which encourages walking or HIIT as highly beneficial for brain health.

I have had this since May 28 and it works wonderfully. It’s heavy to I had to get my husband to help me lift the box inside to where I wanted it. A few points for those who are interested:
    * It does fold up to fold under a bed, HOWEVER, it needs to be lowered at a pretty low angle to do that, I’m not strong enough to do this (it’s about 75 pounds) and awkward. So it’s possible to put under a bed, but a bit awkward to do so.
    * I’m 5’5″ and it’s a perfect stride length for me, however, I don’t see how someone who is taller, say over 6 feet, would be able to use this. I power walk or jog, and it’s awesome.
    * The handle bars are great for balance and do not crowd you when you’re on it.
    * it’s pretty quiet, you can hear it running, but I watch TV while I use it and the volume is set at regular.
    * it’s clean looking and doesn’t show dirt easily.
    * easy to use the music adapter, but I honestly don’t use it for listening to music cause I’m watching TV 🙂
    * easy to turn on and off
    * don’t lose the emergency shutoff red thingy that connects you to the machine, if you do you won’t be able to use it.
    * I use it almost daily for 60 minutes at a time at about 4.5MPH, it heats up and is warm to the touch but that’s normal.

In summary, I like it, it’s exactly what I was hoping for. And worth the money. I bought a lubrication tube for it but have not used that yet, I researched online and found that most people add lubricant after about 6 months of steady use.

BEAUTIFUL AT-HOME TREADMILL: Been looking for a streamlined, foldable, and dare a girl dream, attractive electronic treadmill for a long awhile…I literally googled ‘attractive treadmill’—apparently, it’s not a thing. 😉

NOT GYM GRADE, BUT STILL BEAUTIFUL AND FUNCTIONAL: I used to have a workhorse of a treadmill that despite its utilitarian/gym-grade design and girth, it kinda sorta folded flat, but at more of a distinct angle due to the overall real estate the control panel, base, etc needed…ya know, like most of the ‘fold flat’ options. Flash forward to today where, living in a more limited space with no dedicated ‘gym room’ to be had, I wanted something accessible but easily folded up/tucked away within a dual-purpose space. Now, this little beauty when folded up is lighter and more streamlined and super easy to wheel around (as long as you feel strong enough to lift one side to make it upright first (and this middle age, relatively out of shape woman can easily do it) as the folding flat process is two-fold: First, you release the control panel/handle section to fold it down flat onto the treadmill belt resting on the floor. Then, you lift up one side of the treadmill and voila, you have a truly standing upright and flat treadmill that you can maneuver and wheel around fairly easily and store vertically without it needing to lean on anything. Yay! (Disclaimer: I know the manufacturer states it needs to lean on something, but, thus far, that has not been my experience.)

REASONABLY PRICED/LOVELY DESIGN: I was nervous when ordering it, because although fairly reasonably priced, it’s still north of $800 when all is said and done, and I have a strong, and ok potentially unrealistic, expectation for what I was looking/hoping to find…happily, I can report it’s pretty damn cool. I even like the subtle pink color…not too pink, but just enough to soften the look vs having to settle for the standard black/silver gym equipment. I set it up in my living room (boy, was that box HEAVY, even just dragging on ground from my front door into my livingroom took some doing) and I gotta say the machine is attractive open or close, especially at such ‘low’ price point for what’s looking to be a decent treadmill.

SOLID FOOTPRINT: Please note I’ve only had it for a couple weeks, and haven’t done any hardcore running on it yet, but so far so good. 🙂 I call it my baby treadmill, but it doesn’t feel too narrow or small for a decent jog, but I’m only 5’2″ and just getting back into shape so we’ll see. That said, it’s looking to be perfect for what I needed: a compact, attractive, foldable, but solid machine for daily light jog/run..sure, .I won’t be breaking any records on this one, but it’s getting me up and moving so I’m happy. As far as testing it out, as of this writing, I’ve been starting with a 15-30 minute steady paced walk (3 mph) ramping up to 3 min jog/sprints up to 4-4.5 for a 45-60 min session in total and, so far, the machine feels solid, the only weak point being my currently limited fitness level. 😉 No treadmill shaking or noise issues with either incline or speed either. Granted, I do turn up the volume on the tv more than usual when running and the elevation options are limited, but effective (incrementally up to 12), and some of the programming buttons are not intuitive…something to keep in mind if that matters to you which kinda did to me, but getting over it as I slowly learn what each do (ie: reading the manual). In short, for someone looking to get a little cardio going without committing to a much larger or pricier gym-level type machine, this one works really great..and doesn’t look or feel as budget-friendly and compact as it is. Very happy! Bravo Asuna. 🙂

ASSEMBLY: This too was a breeze, and basically a non-issue, so much so I cancelled the professional assembly appointment. The only assembly caveat being if you want the secondary handles installed (heart rate handles already attached), just know that you apparently will have to remove them every time you want to fold it flat (at least that’s how I interpreted the manual) which was the main reason I bought the fabulous thing in the first place (ie: ease in folding when done) so I opted to leave the second handles off and, so far, do not miss them—at all. The hardest part of ‘assembly’ was me trying to deadlift the 140+ lb machine out of the box..fortunately, I figured out a smarter work-around (desperation breeds invention, does it not?), dismantling the box around the treadmill and pulling it out from under the machine…much easier! Also, a big THANK YOU to the two Amazon dudes who hauled the box up 17 steps to my front door. I wasn’t here, but saw what their heroic efforts on my door camera. They even called me upon arrival. They are seriously delivery rockstars! Bravo Amazon. 🙂

EARLY REVIEW…so far so good, but if I have any issues, I’ll be back to update this puppy.

    Healthy running everyone!
