paired easily with my phone. I could not sleep or heart track with my watch due to battery life, being uncomfortable and the bright light that came on when I moved. The ring stays on my finger for several days and everything is tracked from my phone. Unlike the Oura ring… the app is FREE. I would definitely recommend wearing the size rings for at least 24 hours… hand swells and shrinks throughout the day. I also bought refurbished so I saved a chunk of change… super happy camper.

This size kit is cheap, and basically free if you ended up buying the Smart Ring, so it’s definitely worth it to verify what finger you want to wear it on, and what size to order. They do not have half sizes. Your hands (fingers) will swell and contract with heat, cold, and different activities and inactivity. This plastic ring lets you wear it for minimum 24 hours, preferable a week, to make sure you order the correct size. My wedding band is a perfect size 8. As you can see on the measuring rod picture, the size 8 in the kit is smaller. I don’t know if it’s the thickness, or the bumps that simulate the sensors, but I’m glad I got this to try it on first.
UPDATE: 17 Sep 24 – (5 Stars – Sizing Kit) – (3 Stars – Titanium Silver Smart Ring)
The $10 credit for the sizing kit was automatically applied when I ordered the ring. I didn’t have to do anything except buy the sizing kit first, and then buy the ring. Note, this ring is for Android (preferably Galaxy) and not for iPhone.
I do love this ring, and I’m hopefully optimistic I can raise the star rating when they improve the software with future updates. I have a Galaxy S23 Ultra, Android 14, and installed One UI 6.1.1 yesterday which adds gestures capability.
I wore a practice ring from the Sizing Kit more than a week before deciding which finger and size was best for me. Samsung recommends an interior (ring, middle, index) finger on your non-dominant hand, without another ring touching it, to protect it from dings and scratches, but it’s accurate on any finger. They also mention the index finger, only because some people find gestures easier. It’s bulky compared to a gold band, but I was most comfortable replacing my wedding ring with this, and my spouse gave me the okay. Gestures work fine with the ring finger, but you may need to practice a little.
Titanium Silver looks and feels like plastic. I’m not marking it down for this because I read it in other reviews and bought it anyway, but you can see in the picture it doesn’t match my other ring. I don’t regret buying it, but if I got a do-over, I would buy black.
The ring came fully charged in its charging case. The case was about half charged, so I plugged it into my phone charger USB-C cable. It also comes with one if you need an extra cord. After putting the ring on, I opened the Samsung Wearable App which recognized the ring and its case immediately. The software walked me through pairing both ring and case, installing, and installing the Samsung Health App automatically. There was only one glitch when it asked for permissions. There were several choices but would not complete until I gave it full control.
The Wearable App has many set it and forget it settings, including gestures, but you will need to open it to check the battery status for the ring and charging case. A lightning bolt lets you know which is charging, the ring or the case. The Health App has everything else, but no battery indicator. The case has lights, but they don’t tell you much. Also, you can take the ring off to check its battery level. The ring’s light will flash green if the battery is above 15% and red if the battery is below 15%. I got 6.5 days on a full charge both weeks I’ve had it. On Day 5 it was down to 17%. On Day 6 it was at 9%. The case fully charged it once from 0% to 100% in about an hour, and the next week it stopped charging at 94% and the case was down to 4%. That’s almost 2 full ring charges for each case charge! When I plugged the case into the USB-C it charged the ring to 100% before charging the case. My size 8 has a medium size battery.
17mAh for sizes 5, 6, 7 (battery life up to 6 days on a single charge)
18.5mAh for sizes 8, 9, 10, 11 (battery life up to 6 days on a single charge)
22.5mAh for sizes 12, 13 (battery life up to 7 days on a single charge)
The Home screen on the Health App is customizable. I don’t get a period, so I deleted that. I’m mostly interested in sleep, so I moved it to the top, and I moved steps to the bottom. I tried to disable step count, but it will not let me. The lowest step goal is 1,000 and it sends an alert when you reach your goal. Most annoying. I changed the goal to 20,000 and now it doesn’t bother me anymore.
The ring is very good at recording heartrate (about every 10 minutes) and skin temperature day and night. I don’t know if sleeping blood oxygen is accurate, but it’s neat to look at. Stress and energy level are not accurate. You can manually enter blood pressure and weight. You can also manually enter sleep time. My battery died while I was sleeping yesterday. I manually entered sleep from the time the ring stopped recording to the time I got up. It can also detect snoring if you enable it and your phones microphone. I did not try.
The ring’s software does not accept that some people work different shifts and need to sleep different hours. I work the night shift, so I set my sleep target 08:00 to 15:30. The Sleep Coach needs 7 days data, and I gave it 13 days before trying to use it. It forced me to change my target as if I worked day shift, and still will not work. It wants 7 days data sleeping at night. Sorry, my employer does not pay me to sleep at work. I sleep during the day which is why I wanted this ring to help work around my schedule and improve my sleep. The software needs an update to accommodate shift workers, so I took off one star for that.
I have tried several smart watches and bands. This ring is by far the most accurate and comfortable to sleep with. The data it collects is near perfect. It even records and graphs my naps! Because I work night shift, it sometimes records a nap on the wrong day though. I took screen grabs for two naps and one 7.5-hour day sleep on 9 Sep 24. The pictures show it recorded and displayed all three! The ring knows if I am lying still watching TV and when I actually sleep. It also shows restless sleep/wake when I snooze my alarm a few times!
The Wearable App has two options for gestures, and a practice test to verify you are doing it correctly. You can use your ring to take a picture or start a video, and you can set it to disable your phone’s alarm. I tested this and it works well. There is no option to snooze your alarm! I don’t want it to turn my alarm off and risk oversleeping. I want it to snooze my alarm, so I don’t have to open my eyes till I’m ready to get up, so I took off one star for that.
This Galaxy Smart Ring is good, but it can be better. I look forward to raising my star rating when they fix the sleep software to accommodate shift workers and add a gesture control to snooze my alarm.

I was skeptical but, after a week of use, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I have a smart watch but I really don’t wear it often. I prefer my old analogs and the battery life on the smart watch leaves a lot to be desired. I need simplicity and I don’t need another screen on my life. I’ve been wearing the ring on my ring finger in place of my wedding band. It looks good and the measurements have been incredibly accurate. The heart rate feature has matched finger pulse measurements and the sleep tracking matches exactly sleep and wake times. And, most impressively, what it records for distance and pace during my runs has been spot on.. outside on road AND on my treadmill.

I ordered the sizing kit to determine my ring “size”. I normally wear a standard ring size of 12 on my right and an 11 on my left ring finger.
It turns out that NONE of the provided sizes fit any of my fingers other than my left pinky finger, just barely. I did not dare to wear the sizing ring over night because I did not want to cut the sizer off the next morning.
I then went to an electronics retailer store and attempted to try on other smart ring sizes. Too bad, none of the sizing rings fit.
Well that ends my story of me and smart rings, I am only out the $10 for the sizing kit and not out big bucks for buying an actual ring.
Are the manufacturers ever going to consider us bigger people?

This is my first “health device” I’ve owned since the pedometer was a thing. Connection to my Galaxy S24 Ultra was easy. It connected to my Samsung health app instantly.
What I like about this app/ring is the sleep tracking. It tracks your Sleep Stages (Awake, REM, Light and Deep), Blood O2, Snoring, Skin temperature, Heart Rate, Respiratory Rate, and Sleep Consistency. That’s a lot of stuff. Every morning you’re given a “Sleep Score” which includes Sleep Time, Physical Recovery, Restfulness, Mental Recovery and Sleep Cycles.
Other stats this ring tracks is your Heart Rate, Stress levels, Steps, Workouts, and BPM*.
I take off my ring whenever I shower or wash my hands, but sometimes I do wear it when washing hands. I have not had any issues with the ring after exposing it to water like that.
I do not like wearing watches to fitbit and the like never interested me. It is nice to just wear a ring and have my stats tracked without my constant looking at it.
It comes with a sleek charging case that uses USB-C to charge. Takes around 20minutes to fully charge and lasts almost a week before needing to be charged again.
My only complaint is that the underside of the ring where I grab things is starting to wear down on the finish. So my black ring is now showing silver in places.
*BPM is an average during a certain period of time – it does not show real time BPM.

My Three Cents:
I recently started using the Samsung Galaxy Ring, and it has exceeded my expectations in both functionality and style. The ring’s smart features, like health monitoring and seamless integration with my other Samsung devices, are incredibly convenient. I ordered a size 9, and while it fits well, I’d suggest opting for a size up if you prefer a slightly looser fit or have wider fingers. This extra space can make wearing the ring more comfortable throughout the day. Overall, it’s a sleek, high-tech accessory that blends well with any outfit while offering valuable health insights.
