I also own Pro style IMF gloves which are somewhat more expensive than these, and I would say that this cheaper version is almost as good as the Pro Style IMF.

These are excellent gloves. Initially, they are snug/tight to the point of uncomfortable, but after the break in, they feel like custom gloves fitted to your hand. I think they are slightly less tight than Pro style. However, they are somewhat difficult to put on and more difficult than the Pro style. One reason is the close fit. So if you want a close fit like I do, then you have to accept some difficulty in putting the gloves on, but another reason is the the wrist cuff design. It does make an advantage for sparring since everything is flush around your wrist and you will not cut your partners face. The disadvantage is in the difficulty of putting the gloves on by your self (without anybody helping you).

Overall, these gloves are pretty close to the more expensive version (Pro Style IMF) in terms of how they feel. They are difficult to put on, but I am ok with this since the gloves are great. I give these gloves a 5 star rating for quality for the price. There are some better gloves, but at this low price range, they are amazing.

These gloves should be reserved for sparring only. You can hit the bag of course and they will offer good protection, but they will fall apart quickly, like all sparring gloves do, if you are a heavy hitter. I would use them on the bag only for the initial break in.

These gloves are true to weight! They weight exactly 16 ounces.

Due to the tight fit, it is possible that they will not fit everyone, and not everyone would accept the difficulty of putting them on. For reference, my hand is 9.1 inches around knuckles and I bought the large size.

This is my third pair of these, they will last about 2-3 years of heavy use, they tend to feel better after a week or two of breaking in so don’t get upset if they are a little hard and stiff at first. I use the 18 oz and it keeps my knuckles from getting too sore after alot of training.

3* for training, 4* for sparring.

I was very excited to receive these gloves and had high expectations based on them being made by Ringside. The gloves themselves are really good quality, and definitely felt high end. The fit was also decent.

Unfortunately, there are some negatives with these gloves (for me anyway). The biggest negative is the elastic collar that rolls down over the more traditional velcro wrist strap. Other reviews have mentioned this, and it turns out they are true. I was able to roll the elastic collars up and down, but it took a lot of time and effort. The other negative is that the hand compartment was quite big for my hands (I’m 5′ 8″ and 160lbs for reference). I’ve tried other 14oz gloves and not experienced this before.

Overall, I love the quality of the gloves (especially if you can get them on sale for $60), but they are really let down by not using the conventional velcro wrist straps. I suggest you consider this before purchasing.

I bought these for general training (mitts, bag, etc.), not for sparring. I think the elastic collar would be much less of an issue if these are used for sparring, as you wouldn’t need to take them off quite as often. If you purchase these for sparring, I recommend you get at least the 16oz, as I found the IMF padding to be quite firm, so best to be considerate for your partner.

Ultimately, I sent these back and purchased different gloves from Ringside instead.

For reference, I have been training with boxers for 5 years now, so I’m not a complete noob.

I have been in search for the “perfect” feeling and constructed pair of gloves since I started boxing a few years back, well the day has finally arrived! This is my first pair of Ringside gloves and I am kicking myself for not getting a pair sooner. They do fit small as other people have mentioned in other reviews, in fact wraps are not needed they keep your wrist stable without them! They are also a little hard to put on without someone else helping but… That DOES NOT stop me from giving them a 5 star review, these gloves look, feel, are constructed great, they are easily worth twice as much or lets say I would have paid twice as much and they would be worth every penny. Here’s the best part – I HAVE sparred with them and they are G-R-E-A-T! Great protection for you and your opponent!

  5. Alex VanOrden

Great gloves. These are all we use for sparring and they are great.

  6. Cuong Chuong

    LIKES:
    1.Quality leather build
    2. Sturdy padding
    3. Decent wrist support
    4. Sleeve secures velcro wrist-strap from coming loose
    5. Ok for light sparring and bag work

    DISLIKES:
    1. Fit! I’m a 5’7″ welterweight amateur boxer with what I would consider to be medium sized hands. The gloves look big from the outside but the inside profile is way too small (I don’t have the biggest hands, they’re but pretty average size but my fingers as you can see in my pic are long and boney. Even though I got the 18 Oz it still was a tight squeeze to get my hands inside these gloves WITHOUT HANDWRAPS BY THE WAY!) They fit with wraps on but we’re EXTREMELY tight and almost painful for prolonged use.)
    2. Hand position (The padding is indeed dense and seems sturdy but the positioning my hand sits isn’t the most comfortable. There is a bit of rubbing along the intermedial phalanges of my fingers (the 2nd joint of the fingers after the knuckles). It’s also a bit difficult to make a comfortable fist because of the stiff molded padding. I assume with time and use it should break in be I will update my review after some months!)
    3. VERY, VERY difficult to put on. (Unless you have help you’d find it a very tedious task to put on and take of these gloves, mainly because of the sleeves
    4. Breathability (these gloves do accumulate heat, possibly because of the sleeve that blocks off the main source of ventilation for your palms. My hands got a bit more sweaty than regular while I was wearing them
    5. Weight (I got a pair of 18Oz. I thought that because of the size they would be big enough to accommodate my hands but the gloves look just as small as 16oz or even some 14ozs I own. I didn’t get to weigh them but one glove feels a bit lighter than the other.

Overall I would give these gloves a 3 out of 5 because despite the size and fitting issues there are very high quality made gloves with real leather.

  8. Lou

I don’t write many reviews so after having a few pair of Ringside gloves I figure I should.
I am really happy with the fit, quality and durability these gloves put out for hard sparring, boxing & Kickboxing. I have another set I use for pad & bag work. Overall great buy for the money, I love the wrist strap, it’s not overly bulky, I can tighten way better than anything I’ve tried to this point and the wrist Velcro cover is awesome. It helps keep the gloves secure and the Velcro away from sparring partners, clothes or being ripped off.
I def recommend and will be ordering a new set for bag work soon!

  9. caleb lightcap

the gloves feel great but they are super hard to get on and off by yourself beyond that they are great.

  10. Jen Adair

Fits great, no Velcro to tear up people’s neck when sparing in the clinch

  11. Cuong Chuong

  12. Jesús Osvaldo Hurtado Rodriguez

-no Velcro or lace to tighten glove
-uses very difficult elastic to tighten
-can’t put on by yourself, because you need a lot of dexterity to work the elastic flap

  13. Dell Grandi

Well made glove for the price. I will only use these for sparring and they will protect my hands
