Definitely better than regular skipping ropes you buy on a whim at W*lmart. Working out is less frustrating now. Nothing is perfect so it does still tangle up like normal skipping ropes (lesser than the norm), but the key is to just hang it up when storing it. My boxing place does this with their skip ropes. The bag was a nice touch as a free add-on, but if you tie it up to store in the bag, it’ll just make it easier for it to tangle. Love the counter!! Saves me time and brain cells trying to keep track of my reps.

I recently had to write a review for another brand’s jump rope for the Amazon Vine program, and compared it to the Renpho model which I have had for 1-2 years. It made me realize how much I love the Renpho, so I’m including the review here:

I have used jump roping as a regular exercise of mine for years, and own at least a dozen different types; anything from $8-80 models. A few years ago, I started using a Renpho Smart jumping rope, and, although it’s not my particularly the best made or my favorite jump rope, I have used it almost exclusively several times a week because of the “smart” features. I base my work outs on the number of jumps, so this thing has allowed me to stop counting and listen to music or podcasts because it counts for me. I love it. As a frame of reference, I typically do 4000 jumps and it takes me 27-28 minutes.

The rope on my Renpho has started to wear in the center (which happens) so I needed to replace it anyway. I had the opportunity to try this brand, WEGYM, through the Amazon Vine program, so decided to compare the 2. There are more similarities than differences, so I will mostly point out why I would absolutely recommend the Renpho over this brand:

The app for the WEGYM is more confusing to navigate. It’s part of a multi-training workout app that incorporates many other (non jump rope) exercises. The Renpho is just a jump rope app. While someone else may want to also have an app that does core exercises, strength training, etc it made this clunkier to navigate for me because only a small section of the app is dedicated to rope jumping. It looks like they also sell some type of resistance band (“Rally-X”?), and most of the app is focused on that.

While many of the features of the jump rope section WEGYM app are the same as the Renpho, it was also just a little more confusing to navigate (and I’m usually pretty tech savvy – I like gadgets). For example, there is a “metronome” setting which ticks while you jump, and I thought this was going to be a deal breaker, because it’s really annoying. You can turn it off, but it wasn’t obvious at first how. It’s probably just that I’ve been using the Renpho for so long and that I’m used to it, but it seems simpler and more sleek to use, even though the interface looks more rudimentary and not as polished as the WEGYM. Also, the Renpho let’s you compare your jumps, time, and calories burned to other users for that day, week, month, etc (just a little motivating factor) and I didn’t see that feature on the WEGYM.

The main issue though, are the handles. They are on the thin side (about the width of your thumb) and are short and made of a smooth plastic. I typically like the thicker handles, just for the feel and grip. However, if you are going to have thin, light handles you need to have a thin, light rope as well (which I also don’t usually like). I’m sure there are official weights/designations, but I would call this rope moderately heavy (it’s a steel cable surrounded by a plastic sheath – fairly typical) and moderately thick for a jump rope.

When jumping, the handles are not heavy enough to support the weight of the rope, so there is a lot of motion/toggle on the inner portion of the handles. This is annoying, especially if you are jumping for a while. I tried “choking up” on the handle, so I was essentially hitting the rope, and it still moved a lot. Basically, the balance is off so it’s not very comfortable to use for a long time.

The Renpho, at the time of this writing, is also $8 cheaper ($17 vs $25) than the WEGYM, making it a no-brainer. I will say, though, that the WEGYM and it’s features are worth $25, it’s just the Renpho is a much better bargain.

I think I’m going to remove the rope part from the WEGYM and put it on the Renpho handles. If it doesn’t fit (or is still too heavy for those handles), then I’ll just but another Renpho.

    It’s amazing 🪢
All like in description, all work with app and with enother RENPHO products.
    I’m enjoying in process )))

The jump rope looks nice and feels to be good qualities. My one complaint is that the app doesn’t connect to the jump rope every time, so it’s not dependable for tracking. Fortunately, you can just write things down or use another app, and the timer and jump counter built into the jump rope work very well.

Renpho delivered again with another great product. I’ve really enjoyed purchasing their products as they are always intuitive, well built and meet the need I am trying to fulfill. However, what I don’t enjoy is the 5+ different Renpho apps I now have. I center a lot of my purchases with Renpho around my health — it would be nice if Renpho could just consolidate each of their apps into a single Renpho Health App

I originally had this review as a 4/5 stars — but as I am a typing this I slipped back up to a 5/5 star rating as I realized this product alone is great and my beef about multiple apps isn’t relevant as someone purchasing this jump rope might only ever purchase this single product from Renpho . . . anyways rant over 😉

The single most important feature on this jump rope is the ability to count how many times I jump. I am an avid cross-fitter and at times we will go around doing 400+ jump ropes during the competitive workout of the day — and instead of being called out for “counting my jumps incorrectly” 🙂 — I can now feel every bit more confident and just flash the count of jumps on the app on my phone. It does an awesome jump of keeping a great log of your consistent jumps too. So if you do 85 consistent jumps it will break that out into a bar chart like stat as you continue to do your next consistent amount of jumps. The jump rope itself has a speaker audible on it that lets you know when you have hit your goal. The app on the phone does a great job of showing an “egg-timer” like countdown until you have hit your goal — but the audible on the jump rope is my favorite. I can “zone-out” and not try and squint at my phone posted up on the floor in front of me. It is very accurate too.

I bought this to do a sponsored skip. Itade it really easy to count the daily skips and add up the data in the app. The rope is ideally weighted and smooth. Perfect buy.

Overall this seems to be a good quality jump rope. The handles have a good weight to them and the count seems accurate. The app tracks jumps in real time which is great.

The smart jumprope itself is great so giving 5-starts for that.

However, as others have mentioned, the directions are a little vague. In particular around assembly of the rope. It instructs great on battery install, functions and pairing with the app, but omits any instruction on rope assembly. It may be common sense for some, but I had to reference the photos on the Amazon listing to make sure I did it correct. Not a huge problem unless you gift this to someone, then they’d have to do some research to find the listing and photos (unless they can just figure it out on their own!)

Also their is mention of the device playing background in the manual (and in the FAQ on the App) and how to stop it from doing this. Mine did jot do this, nor could I figure out how to enable it to do this. Not sure if this would be a feature/benefit or an issue with the bluetooth connection to your device but might be a nice feature to have it able to play music/audio queues as you are using it. Again, due to the vague instructions I’m kind of uncertain about this.

The other thing, in my opinion, the quality of the storage bag seems cheap. Seems like a cheap vinyl drawstring bag which probable won’t last. Would prefer a better quality mesh bag, but again this is just my opinion and many may not even need the bag.

I was hoping the Renpho app I use for their smart scale would be the same for this product, but it is a different app. Would be great if they could have a dingle app that covered all their devices.

Overall I am satisfied with this item/purchase and would recommend to others.
