Have used the tipsy things and they take up too much space. This was easy to put together and easy to use. Feel better after using it….although I wish it had a nuclear option (but totally see why it doesn’t).

This traction bed provides excellent relief but they cut corners on the quality of some of its finishing touches. Also, the instructions are so horribly written with improper English that they’re essentially non-existent. I ended up guessing my way through the entire assembly, but fortunately the design is intuitive enough to figure out where things go. However, as mentioned earlier, the quality of some of the design features is pretty low. For example, the pads which sandwich your ankles simply slide on and off the metallic tubes so they are difficult to keep in place. Those tubes are fairly short, so sometimes the pads even slide partially off, so I have to focus on keeping my feet centered rather than simply focusing on a relaxing stretch. Also the plastic end caps that slide into each hollow tube are always falling out. I’m constantly popping them back in after every use of the machine. The main height adjustment of the sliding beam is also only viewable from the side, so it’s difficult to read which value you’ve selected while seated on the machine. You can still adjust it by trial and error, but it would be nice to be able to know in advance that you’re at the correct height before cranking the lever. Sometimes the extension maxes out before a stretch is felt, so I have to reverse crank, readjust the arm and start over. This may not be a big deal if you’re the sole user or memorize and select the correct position before entering the machine, but it’s a bit of a hassle when switching between users in my household. The ad also suggests that the machine is easy to stow, but nothing really collapses other than the overall height/length of the machine. Hence, if you don’t have the space to leave it always out, there really aren’t may options for putting it away. You can hang it on a wall or lean it up in a closet, but it won’t be sliding beneath many beds or couches.

All that said, the machine performs very well. The main pad for your back and the padded rollers are very comfortable and the crank operates smoothly. The gearing allows for fine tuned adjustments that makes it easy to select the desired amount of traction. I like how rather than hanging and relying solely on gravity, I can comfortably lay down and incrementally adjust the pull on my neck and/or spine. The harness for your head is also comfortable and easy to adjust to fit, and the clamping mechanism for your ankles is very strong, ensuring that you get the proper pull. Once everything is properly fitted and adjusted, cranking the lever for the desired pull provides excellent relief. I also like that the machine is stable on the ground and the feet can be adjusted if your floor is not level. All-in-all it’s a very good machine, but it could use some refinements as mentioned above.
