I think the taste of these is fine but the texture is really subpar.
The pancakes are dry as hell and gritty, they also don’t stick together very well and will crumble, has crumbled just putting cold butter on the hot pancake.
I definitely add more water to the mix then they recommend (about 2 tbsp per serving) because it is just a dense lump if you don’t.
I also put blueberries in them to make it tolerable and add some moisture.
You need it on a lower heat then you’d cook a normal pancake because it’ll be raw in the middle if you don’t. It seems to burn/brown easily.
As a stand alone pancake it’s really difficult to eat because it just absorbs all moisture.
I’ve thrown away more than one because I just didn’t want to eat it anymore.
I use real maple syrup and it seems like I can’t find a trace of it after I pour it on.
I have made it with oil and butter (oil works better)
I am open to trying to make it work with some tweeks but I am definitely going to try other brands or perhaps try and make my own mix to see if I can obtain better results.
The concept is there – the execution is not.

Not a huge fan of the flavour. They’re still very dry and cardboardy unfortunately.

TASTE: These pancakes taste great. Some said they don’t taste exactly like traditional pancake but they do taste good – I would agree with that statement! They have a heartier flavor and texture as you would expect when you replace bleached white flour with a whole grain – in this case oat flour. Sometimes they come out a little dry- but that is why the recipe for traditional pancakes calls for oil to be added….it makes the pancakes moist. So I add a teaspoon of coconut oil or sunflower oil and the pancakes taste moist as well. I top with banana slices and blackstrap molasses.
INGREDIENTS: I think the ingredients reflect good attempt at healthy pancakes: whey protein and oat flour; baking powder to make them rise; not much else.

I think I’ve tried just about all the protein pancake mixes there are. This one seems to be the best in terms of nutrition and taste. I’ve had a few that tasted a little bit better, but had nutrition issues, such as way too sodium. I really like the nutritional profile of this one and they taste great. They mix well, I can go from a cold pan to pancakes on a plate in five minutes. A little sugar free syrup and some fruit and I’m set for a great healthy breakfast to start the day off. These do not come out rubbery at all like some protein pancakes. They are fairly light and fluffy. The flavored pancakes are pretty mild, not overpowering at all. Some other flavored pancake mixes come out so strongly flavored they taste like a chemical factory, not the case with these. I’ll continue ordering this brand.

Such a great protein pancake mix! So tasty! I do add an egg or two to make them more soft and fluffy, because on their own they can be a bit dry but, overall really great.

I wouldn’t call these “awful”, but I wouldn’t call them “amazing.” The flavor is good, which was surprising (so many protein-added foods taste funky, in my opinion). If anything, it has a nice sweetness (but not SWEET). The texture is the least desirable characteristic. I’ve made these twice, each time in accordance with the “+egg” instructions for a higher protein count. Quite dense and cake-y. You really have to douse the thing in a wet topping, and have a glass of something to drink. It isn’t prohibitively dense, though. I’m going to try a few different water ratios with the rest of the pack to see if I can come up with a better texture and will update this review if I come up with anything.

I’m trying to limit my gluten intake while simultaneously increasing my protein intake. Although not certified gluten free, I can tell it isn’t filled with gluten because it doesn’t make me feel tired and bloated after eating. Breakfast is hard for me because I don’t crave eggs and bacon only breads and cereals but carbs don’t do much for my body. I was excited to find this product that helps me accomplish both taste and body health.
The buttermilk version doesn’t have a lot of taste to it so I usually add cinnamon to the mix and sometimes fresh berries. Tastes just like a restaurant waffle though! I use a waffle maker brushed with a little coconut oil and the waffle never sticks! Plus when making it into a waffle, I can hide a little almond milk and and an egg in there!
The mix is nice and smooth, you can’t taste any of the protein powder at all! I find this better than eating a protein bar that is either hard to stomach from the texture or filled with necessary sugars. Their muffins look good as well but this mix is a lot more cost effective if you eat their product daily.

Delicious, high in protein, gluten-free.
Love these pancakes.
I also substitute Flap-Jacked for flour in recipes to make muffins, breads, and cookies that are higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates.
The pancakes are filling and keep you full longer than regular pancakes.
Note: I am surprised at the bad reviews. I make with 1/2 c. mix and 1/3 c. water or milk. Stir well. If too thick add more water/milk; if too thin, add more mix. Cook on med-low heat. I cook them in a pan with coconut oil or olive oil, or organic butter. I top with fresh or cooked frozen fruit and a little maple syrup. My family loves them.
I was not paid for this review.

This was my first time trying the Flapjacked protein pancake & baking mix. So far I have made pancakes, waffles, muffins and mug cake in the microwave. All have baked well and have tasted REALLY good! I did add a tiny bit of greek yogurt. I normally do in my baked goods to make sure I do not have a dry result. I chose the Cinnamon Apple mix. The flavor was perfect, not artificial tasting and not over powering either. The mix contains apples :>). This mix is high protein, wheat free and lower in carbohydrates for a pancake/baking mix. The ingredient list is superior to other mixes. I definitely will buy again! I would like to try the buttermilk mix as well. This mix will not disappoint.
