Mostly based on the kind of work outs I do, this really didn’t serve my needs. I do use it, but not the way it was intended. I wouldn’t purchase again.

I decided to get back to the gym this year and finding a way to keep track of the number of reps, the number of sets and the weight I am using is important. In the past, I just used a small spiral notepad. I tried to use my phone to keep everything but I found that to be a hassle so I was going to go back to the notepad when I saw this fitness journal. This is a much more attractive and organized way to keep up with everything! The journal is large enough to easily write in it but not so large as to be too much to carry around the gym. This is working just like I wanted it to. If there is anything I would like to see improved it is making the pages a little thicker so they aren’t as likely to tear out but that’s just quibbling. There are plenty of pages to the journal and you get two of them. That’s a pretty deal.

My son started working out religiously last year, and was not tracking his progress.
I had used similar books in the past to track exercises, weight, reps, dates, progress and much more. These log books really make that easy.
It has a water resistant cover, and plenty of pages to get someone through about a year (if you work out 4-5 days a week). It is wonderful to see the progress and gains he has made, and now uses these books every day. Their is a ton of value in tracking what you do at the gym; from what weight you used last, how many reps you did, and just ensuring you are progressing in your workout routine.
Highly recommend these books for anyone who works out. I swear by them, and now my son does as well. Its very satisfying to fill out after a hard day at the gym. And it seems to motivate him as well.
Win win! Great journals and great price! Can’t be beat. 5 Star products! Now he is going to journal his diet as well. Probably track his sleeping, and who knows what else! And there is nothing wrong with that. 🙂

Waste of paper

Ideal for beginners or pros! I hate using my phone to track workouts so these journals are a great alternative. Pen and paper never fail.

This is great for keeping track of my exercises, no more trying to remember what I lifted last time. I’ve been using it for about a month and it’s nice to really track everything. Seems like each book will last about a year and this comes with 2 books. Great value.

I imagine if you do traditional workouts, with weights, sets and reps, then this would be ideal. I had different kinds of workouts that I considered and it was not always able to fit in the predesignated columns I had. Sometimes we did cardio and sometimes we did pilates, but those are not measured in sets or at least a bit more difficult to measure in this fitness journal.

I like to keep basic records of my workouts so I can go back and look and see what I did in the previous months, weeks, or days so I can strive to work out harder than I did the last time I did a particular exercise. Typically I just use the 6×8 basic college ruled notebooks which can get kind of sloppy with no tables or organization. These have all of that and more.
My workouts are based on the big 4 barbell exercises (b/p, squat, dl, press) and these are highlighted in thier own section under ‘PR’ for easy reference. There are also sections for your body metrics, to include before and after pics, measurements, etc. The part that I find most useful though are the pages where you actually log your workouts. There are slots to record the day, date, what workout you are doing that day (upper body, lower body, etc.) and of course exercise, sets, and reps, all indexed and easy to find, neat and organized in thier respective rows and columns.
The front and back covers are glossy heavy guage paper, but they should be sturdy enough to hold up for the life of the book. It’s double spiraled for a little added sturdiness. The paper is pretty heavy guage and the ink doesn’t smudge if I wet my finger and rub it so it should be good when you are working out hard and sweating and then trying to write on damp pages, it shouldn’t smear.
There are about 140 pages printed front to back so the books should last a several months if you are working out 3 times a week. The books come in a 2-pack and are very reasonably priced. I definitely recommend these books if you are like me and enjoy keeping an analog journal of your workouts.
