I handle it gently and with care. Seems to work perfectly fine for me.

For the price I got these for these things are amazing, to be fair sometimes when selecting a weight an extra plate sometimes gets caught but overall they mostly work fine and to get select a weight up to 50 lbs for this price is crazy. They have been sturdy and I have no issues with plates falling off or anything like that. They have a little bit of a shake to them but for a multi plate dumb bell it’s really not bad at all. I recommend 👌

Bought 2 of these a year ago and used them maximum 10 times since I started going to the gym again. Anyway this morning I decided to do a upper body workout at home. I was using 10lbs only and the plates fell, and now it’s impossible to put the dumbbell back in its rack.

I REALLY wanted this item to work! Looking at comparative adjustable dumbbells these looked like the clear choice within this pricepoint. I was very excited when they arrived, sooner than anticipated despite the holiday season. They look beautiful and out of the box the adjusting mechanism seemed to function smoothly. After reading some of the reviews I was concerned about how well the mechanism would hold up, but was cautiously optimistic. The first workout with them went great, with no issues. With the second workout I noted some difficulty in dialing in the weight, with plates sometimes “sticking” and then dropping back into the holder, as well as some difficulty dialing in the right weight, requiring some “back and forth” until I could get it to the right weight. Due to some reviews regarding how the mechanism seemed fragile and they should not be banged around, I was EXTREMELY careful not to drop or bang the dumbbells in any way. By the third workout one dumbbell would only go from 5 to 35 lbs and the other was permanently stuck at 50 lbs. I tried for almost an hour to “jiggle” and manipulate the plates and holder to get them to reengage, to no avail. I tried calling the CAP directly and got no answer after multiple attempts. More concerning was the message that said “the voice mailbox of the PERSON you are trying to reach is full”. Is this a PERSON or a COMPANY? For almost $500 (with tax) this is completely unacceptable. I am returning this through Amazon. I am concerned, however, that while Amazon says I should bring to a UPS center for return with no shipping changes, the return instructions include a note from the manufacturer saying that for returns there is a charge for shipping, as well as a 10% restocking fee. For the moment I am going to assume that is for regular returns and not returns for defective products. Again, if I had been able to get in touch with the company and actually talk to someone I might have been open to at least trying another pair to see if perhaps I had gotten a lemon, but at this point I am not willing to risk $500 to have another pair maybe work for a couple of months and then be out of my return window. I am VERY disappointed, as these would have been perfect for my home gym. Now, back to the drawing board.

I bought these cap adjustabell weights as I live in a condo and don’t have the space for a rack of weights. It took me a while to trust lifting with these but I use them now 4 to 5 days a week and really love them. Easy to adjust, don’t take up a lot of space. I don’t think CAP makes these anymore but I’m glad I bought them. Actually bought them 9 months previous to writing this review.

Also feel that some of the people complaining about these likely are impatient and are too rough or don’t wait til they hear the click when switching weights . I’ve had a few issues lifting them up and basically put them back in and reset them and I was good. Essentially impatience imo. I lift these over my head and they are solid

First of all…these came probably a week earlier than Amazon said so that was a nice bonus right out of the gate!! Now about these dumbbells…I’m very impressed!! I’m no expert in fitness equipment or anything but I like to think I know quality when I see it. These don’t seem cheaply made at all to me. The mechanism seems like a solid grab on the plates. I haven’t put it through the wringers yet but I gave them a few shakes to make sure it’ll hold. I still have all my toes so that’s good lol. The base may be my only gripe I guess. Not sure if it plastic or a thin aluminum but it’s not as stout as I thought it should or would be. Not a big deal though. My base does not come up with the weights as I’ve seen other reviews claim. As you can see in the video it’s super easy to select the weight and go!! All in all I’m glad I opted for these instead of Bowflex…at least for now. If that changes I’ll be sure to update but for now it’s getting 5 stars!!

Overall I’m happy with this purchase. I’ve been using them for a few days now and they work great! My main concern when I bought them was how much slop there would be and if it would be annoying. I workout in the morning before my wife gets up so I’ve got to keep noise to a minimum. They are kind of noisy if you shake them around (see video) but in normal use they are practically silent. The only time they make noise is when they are rotated (like when doing curls) but any kind of pressing movements there is virtually no noise. The adjustment mechanism is a little noisy but not too bad.
The stands do stick sometimes when they are set to higher weights but I dont really find this to be a big deal.
The handle construction is nearly all plastic and there is a bit of flex with the weights attached. They seem plenty sturdy enough for their intended use but I don’t think they would survive being dropped… the plates seem solid, I think they are cast iron with a plastic overlay. They fit together nicely with the exception of the first ones that are U shaped. They have a different engagement and are defently the sloppyest of the plates.
I bought these particular dumbbells rather than the core brand because they are a bit cheaper, faster delivery time, and I prefer octagonal vs round so they dont roll when you set them down.
The handle actually quite comfortable, I didn’t think I’d like it much but I actually really do. Its plastic with a rubber overlay but it’s nice and thick and has a contour that makes it very comfortable to hold. I thought I’d prefer a knurled straight handle like the Nuobell brand or something similar but I do prefer this style of plate engagement. I like that the plate retention is cast into the plate rather than a plastic addition like the Nuobells. That being said those do have a metal handle so maybe they are stronger. Still, they are way more expensive and I wasn’t willing to wait that long to get them.
These ones showed up in just a couple days (much earlier than estimated) they did send them out one at a time so I got one of them the day after the first one. The packaging is fantastic. Super nice ridged foam and a well taped/stapled box. I read a few reviews where people had some issues with damage in shipment. Maybe fuel has stepped up their packaging since them because I don’t see how they could get damaged to be honast…
Overall seems like a good product for the money (relatively speaking… they are still pricey… but much cheaper than individual dumbbells. And I’m happy to pay for the convenience of swapping weights so quickly.)

I hope this was helpful, it’s the info I wish I had when I ordered my set.

I was starting a dumbell squat rep and the bottoms weights just broke and fell down. I got them 7 months ago and they always felt flimsy
