I am so happy with my Black Mountain resistance bands that I have been using for a few months. I get the benefits of a great workout, flexibility and the convenience of working out at home. They are very portable, safe to use due to the quality construction, and very effective with at least 36 different exercises that I benefit from. I have the ability to strengthen different muscle groups and, when combined with other exercises, I get a full-body workout. I am able to customize my workout to fit my needs where and when I desire.

For the money, they are very cost effective. Due to the five levels of resistance I can tailor my workout for my entire body. When I travel, I am able to take them with me. They come with a nicely-constructed bag in which to coral all of the bands, door anchor, ankle strap, handles, and chart all together; compared to taking those bulky dumb bells that take up valuable trunk space, plus they are awkward and are just a pain to haul around and I cannot do all the exercises with them as I can with the bands. The Black Mountain bands are less intimidating than the gym and, therefore, I’m more dedicated to working out without a costly gym membership.

In summarizing these band are great assets, very easy to use, provide me with an excellent workout, and the convenience is just terrific. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys working out. They can make a great gift to a devoted enthusiast who enjoys working out and has to travel.

My only previous experience with resistance bands was rehab following knee and back injuries. I saw limited use and limited results for them. No way they could be used for any serious purpose, I thought. Limited to light resistance, hi-rep functional strengthening and conditioning within the confines of a physical therapist’s office – boy, was I wrong!

I lift 5 days a week, and love to incorporate cable machines for full range of motion resistance. Only problem is (was) that I don’t have access to a cable machine at home or on the road and getting to the gym at 0530hrs was an exercise in self-discipline. I looked at several other band sets from many other manufacturers before selecting Black Mountain. At this price and with a 90-day return policy and lifetime warranty, if I didn’t like them I could return them or let the wife and kids use them. Throw in “Made in the USA” and I figured they were worth an audition.

Well, color me impressed! I can easily replicate all of the exercises I used to perform on cables and more. Rows, lat pulldowns, crossover chest pulls, hammer curls, concentration curls, tricep extensions and pulldowns – these have even replaced freeweights for lunges, good-mornings, and calf raises! Even with no freeweights, you can still get a full-body workout with these bands, and add-ons are available to up the resistance. Believe me, the pump you feel after a workout with these is every bit as good as you’ll feel leaving a gym.

I like the stackability of these over the individual bands with handles – you can mix and match throughout your sets to increase resistance between sets. With the handles, door anchor, and ankle strap, there really isn’t anything you can’t do on the go out of the small carrying bag.

The quality is great – at first I was a little hesitant to put too much weight on the thick nylon anchor, but now I am more concerned about the door frame I put it in! The foam handles are comfortably sized, and you can even slide them in the loops to replicate pronated and supinated hand positions for various exercises.

Now these can’t be this good without a few minor limitations. You do need to be creative with positioning the bands or your body to perform some exercises – you’ll find them too long for some, too short for others. I’m 6’3″ and my wife is 5’7″ – we both have to make some accommodations, but there is nothing we just cannot do. Also, the addition or option of a bar would be awesome – hint, hint BMP!

All in all, great product – we get great strength training workouts in minimal space. Whether you are looking to augment freeweights and eliminate cables (like me), or looking to use these exclusively for strengthening and conditioning (like my wife), you will not be disappointed!

Great exercise gear. We are using them with our high intensity interval training to train with some more tension than just our body weight. Also easy to take with you on holidays when you are also into exercises while away from home. Highly recommend. Looks very durable .

Great bands. As a free weight lifter myself 5 days a week I needed something to take with me traveling.

    Pros:
    1. bands are very durable
    2. hooks on bands are great.
    3. enough weight for the average to slightly above average lifter for 10-12 reps
    4. Great for the money and beginner (even with a new door anchor)
    5. Compact bag is great that holds everything. Easily fits in even the most packed suitcase. No excuse for not working out while traveling anymore.

    Cons:
    1. The material they use for the handles are very rough (not the part you hold onto but that holds the handles and hooks). For intense lifting scraped knuckle raw. With gloves you will be more then good.
    2. The door anchor is a joke! Number 1 complaint by far. Highly recommend you purchase an additional one for 10-12 dollars more with a big base. Trust me if the door is even slightly looser it will snapped back and it hurts! This was a hotel solid door that it snapped back so not even a hollow inside home door. And yes I double and triple checked that it was solid behind the door but when you are doing multiple reps and pulling at full resistance the door anchor can move to the wrong position.
    3. They use a half moon ring for the handles for the bands to snap onto. A little annoying cause it will not stay in place. A round ring would work better.

Ultimately this is a great set, minus the door anchor, for the money. I would highly recommend them for anybody looking for a portable gym. With my travels, hotels only provide treadmills typically but the lifter is left out. Great way to keep up with your workout or mix it up. It can be a fun way to workout also if free weights are unavailable or you do not have a spotter. Again BEWARE of the door anchor! With exception of the door anchor the other cons are not that big of a deal. Just being detailed, by no means urging you against these since they are very good for the price.
