The current version of Rolflex does not have the detachable arm and you don’t get the long strap.

According to Rolflex, the decision was due to not enough people were using it separately and the arm falls out too easily at the widest adjustment notch.

Depending on your flexibility you can still use it on your traps by treating the main arm + extension handle as a long strap.

The included yellow roller is a good jack of all trades that’s soft enough to act as a foam roller while also hard enough to focus on trigger point if you clamp down hard.

I bought the orange contoured roller separately and it’s MUCH better for precise trigger point work with less effort.

I may buy the other rollers (green oval and yellow knobble) later, but right now I feel the yellow and orange contoured rollers covered all my need.

    Pros:

    – Probably the best device, along with the Armaid, on the market for tennis elbow, computer elbow in my case.
    – Sturdy and versatile, I have not seen a single report of it breaking.
    – Easy to change rollers, very little strength required unlike one of the reviews suggests.

    Cons:

    – It really need another 2 or 3 notches of adjustments for leg work.
    – The device adds leverage but not THAT much leverage, I don’t really feel it can bring enough pressure (comfortably) to do flushing work for tight muscles.
    – The “T” handles are slightly awkward and kind of uncomfortable to hold due to the center arm being very wide with sharp sides.
    – Length adjustment for the extension handle is slow and based on trial and error, esp. with the nylon cords having a bit of a stretch to it.
    – A little pricey.

My teeanage son is a varsity baseball pitcher and asked me to get a roller so he could massage his arm after pitching. He found a $20 item on Amazon. “You get what you pay for,” I told him. I sat down and researched higher-priced items. In the end, I purchased the $80 Rolflex for him. Fast foward 9 months and I am the very proud owner of 2 Rolflex and 1 Rollit, Rolflex’s secondary product ($30).

Precision Pressure: Probably the #1 feature of the Rolflex device and the Rollit, is the ability to adjust the pressure you apply to the muscle with very little effort and total precision. The hinged device, enables the user to gently increase or decrease the pressure with total precision using your fingertips holding the two handles together.

Deterrants to Regular Use: If you use a rechargeable pulsating massage gun, which I have and do use, you probably enjoy the simplicity of the machine doing the work. The Rolflex is not that easy. That said, you cannot get the same therapeutic results with a massage gun that you can achieve with the Rolflex. It is easy to use, but it takes some practice. It’s easy to use, but you have to learn your body’s needs, how to position the Rolflex and which notch on the adjustable clamp to set the device, before you’ll achieve maximum benefit. Once you do…IT IS INCREDIBLE!

Learning to Use Rolflex: The videos are a great starting point, but there are sooo many more muscles you can dig into if you work at it. For example, as a tennis player, my outer shoulder muscles need therapy regularly. Placing the weighty rubber base on the thigh, opening the clamp to the larger settings and leaning forward until the yellow roller is on the shoulder muscles requires a comfortable position on a firm chair. Once you get it in place, gradually moving the shoulder in and out of the Rolflex while adjusting pressure is heavenly. The same is true for the larger muscles of the leg. Again, it takes practice, but the more I have used it, the more I’ve found ways to dig into the muscles of the legs and arms and there is no question that my body has benefited from a regular routine of rolling out the muscles daily.

Rollit (their secondary product): The more I used the Rolflex, the more I craved a similar device for the neck and upper shoulder / high back muscles. Enter the Rollit. Essentially, it’s half of the Rolflex clamp device with a long strap attached to it. The strap has thumb loops that work perfectly. This device takes practice as well and more creativity than the Rolflex, but once you get used to setting it on the muscles and looping the strap around your body and into your free hand, the ability to roll the device on neck, shoulder, upper back, side back muscles and even on the pectoral muscles in front the therapeutic benefits are FANTASTIC!

If you are serious about taking care of your sore muscles, THIS IS THE TOOL you need in your arsenal. I got tired of sharing with my son, so I bought one for myself. As a baseball umpire, soccer referee, tennis player and surfer at age 53, I am certain that Rolflex and the Rollit will enable me to stay healthy and avoid injury for many years to come.

If your forearms are knakered like mine then this thing packs a blast. At first I thought having to hold the top was a stupid idea but it’s actually better because you can adjust the pressure as you go. Hurts but does it’s job well.

  6. Helen

I like all about this product. The major thing is it helps me with my arms tension.

  7. J Christen

I was very hesitant to purchase this expensive piece of equipment. But I have used it many times on the tendinitis in my forearm, and saved me physiotherapy fees.

This really does release and relieve muscle and tendon issues! Quickly. The only issue is that it’s made for large hands to hold the item together while rolling. If you have small hands (ie. Female hands), it is awkward. The extension included technically helps, but you can tell it’s an afterthought that doesn’t work well. If they designed it to accommodate more of the population, this would be a fantastic tool! I still recommend it, even if it’s tough to clench it together.
