I just got this glove so I will update my review in a month or so.

I gotta say that delivery and packaging wise, it was top notch. I ordered it on a Friday (Jul 29th) and it was scheduled to be delivered a week from order (Aug 8th) but I received it on Monday (Jul 31st). Definitely wasn’t expecting a quick turnaround and in great condition upon arrival. It was tightly packed and wrapped in layers of bubble wrap on top of the original packaging so that’s kudos to them cause it shows they care that the product arrives in shape.

Now about the glove, I love how compact the glove is (I got 16oz) and the design (got the red with white trim) was a beaut. Made from pure leather and it has that fresh leather smell when you first use it. Has gotten compliments from my gym mates about the new glove. Quality is amazing for sure. Padding is dense and a bit top heavy (this is known for mexican style punchers gloves). Has a grip bar so you can form a proper fist when punching. They are definitely meant for straight up boxing though rather than Muay Thai as there’s not enough padding to absorb kicks. Velcro is great and wrist support is good without feeling too stiff.

But why only 4 stars? Well, it still needs to be broken in properly, although its not as stiff as most people would say it is for first hand use. While it is compact, the inside is roomy. I’m hoping that as I use it more, it will eventually mold to my hand and conform to my fists. Also, it didn’t have that pop when I used it on the bags (haven’t done pads with it yet) so that was a bit downer.

Overall, it’s a really nice glove. Amazing quality. Great for sparring (enough protection for both you and your partner). Hopefully, with more use, it gets better on the bag and pads. I could definitely see myself using this for a long time. Highly recommended and for the price, it’s a banger.

EXCELENTE, SOLO QUE LA PALMA NO ERA NEGRA, ERA COMPLETAMENTE BLANCA

This is what I d expect from gloves; well made, good quality leather, looks stylish, you hear a nice pop when you land a good punch. It’s a bit tight now (12oz, middle sized fingers), but probably It will feel more comfortable in time.

    Good job fairtex.

    Im 89-90kg.
The gloves seem pretty narrow as soon as you put them on for the first time. But they are soft and after a couple of training sessions they take the shape of your hand and fit perfectly like all Fairtex gloves.
I got the 12 oz this mexican style as a second glove just for practicing on pads and heavy bag because my first pair of 16 oz BGV 19 gloves doesn’t support my wrists so well and sometimes it hurts.
After two training sessions I can say that the gloves are great, after 16 ounces your hands seem so fast. You can feel your knuckles very well, but they are protected. The wrist feels great too. I recommend it

Excelente calidad, cómodos y de piel, llegan hasta la mitad del antebrazo, por eso dicen tipo boxeador mexicano. Protege muy bien la muñeca y la mano. Excelente compra. La siguiente sean las espinilleras.

Well made, good looking, easy to clean. Light Weight with good padding.

I bought 14oz BGV9-s for my pad and bag work.

They arrive VERY stiff, be sure to break them in slowly. in this period it might feel painful, not comfortable etc. but give it 2-3 weeks, foam will mold on your hand and it might become your fave glove. fit is really good, I am 6ft4 180 pounds with normal hands, it fits me excellently with big wraps.

has a great pop on bags and pads, but please do not use in sparring unless you really dislike your sparring partner, as it feels like a brick.

As I am a muay thai fighter, BGV1-s are a better option for me, especially in sparring and partner drills. BGV9-s really require that you have a perfect form. if you like sneaking in shots by bending your wrist, it is nearly impossible in these gloves. your form has to be near textbook. it is also not the best for clinching because of the wrist support it provides, but it is doable. blocking kicks with these is also not as good as in other gloves.

Overall, very very good boxing and pad/bagwork glove, if you are combo puncher and mainly a boxer, it is a must have essentially.

I’ve tried a good bit of gloves, these are THE best for pad, mitt, and bag work, period. Wrist support is top notch for hard punching, grab bar is great for power and feel, fit is snug and supportive, quality is what you’d expect from Fairtex, price is more than reasonable for handmade premium leather gloves. I walk around at 160-165 and use a 12oz pair of these for everything striking related except sparring.

Only downside is the shape and design of these don’t work great for MT clinches, which makes sense because they are a more traditional mexican-style boxing glove. If you are sparring in Muay Thai, I recommend the BGV1 for that, Fairtex’s bread and butter MT glove. But for pad/bag work I LOVE these because of the additional wrist support.

I have these (BGV9) in 12oz for pad/mitt/bag work and the BGV1 in 16oz for sparring. That glove quiver should handle anything you throw at it for several years, provided you take proper care of your gear. Use deodorizers after each session, don’t leave your gloves in your bag wet, apply leather conditioner monthly to keep the surface soft and supple (any real leather gloves will crack if you don’t do this, it’s not a quality issue, it’s a user issue).

Lastly, there is no doubt these are REAL FAIRTEX GLOVES, but you can get fakes from weird third party sellers here on Amazon, so pay attention when you buy. Mine came in the factory plastic sealed with an authentic Fairtex tag on it. When you select your size/color, read carefully and only buy from “Fairtex Official” (fulfilled by Amazon). That guarantees you are buying products stocked directly from Fairtex to Amazon. Anyone else I wouldn’t trust.

These are really excelent and comfortable gloves for the price. The leather feels, looks and smells great. Protection for knuckles feels all right and the feeling when hitting the bag is great. I prefer this feeling to the Hayabusa’s T3 even though the padding is supposedly better. They can get a bit hot though, while using them and your hands can get sweaty, using wraps is a good idea; maybe breathability could be improved.

I am a boxer and I have tried may makes of gloves, this is one of the best out there.Made of full leather , it will take a while to break in but after that is gold. The size is perfect for small to medium hands, good fit , it truly emulates the Mexican style gloves, with good wrist support and compact feel.
The materials used are top quality and with good care it should last for years.Sure the leather has crisps , as I have been using them on heavy bag.I might go with 16 oz next time ( this one are 14 oz ). The price is affordable ,now for sparring is a bit different , it will feel a bit harsh is you are a heavy hitter as this gloves are not pillows.I am recommending this gloves for any boxers out there.

  12. jm3686

was looking for some gloves that dont add too much bulk like my hyabusa t3s. these fit similar to cleto reyes gloves and have that great pop sound when making impact. I can feel the impact of every punch perfectly. The knuckle and wrist protection is great as well. for the price, the quality of the materials is very nice. if something happened and i lost these gloves, i would buy another pair immediately

  13. Kamsuh

I was looking for a quality glove that wouldn’t break the bank and these are amazing. A puncher’s glove. Padding is a bit too firm for sparring. Mainly for bag and mit work.
