My first thought was $7.99 for 200 caplets- what a deal! But then I saw that a daily dosage is 6 tablets – that is a lot more than I like to take- because I’m already taking other supplements and prescription pills. But as we age, we can all use glucosamine chondroitin to aid in our health. It’s made in the USA, which is a plus.

This supplement is a single source of many of the ingredients my joints and tendons need to stay healthy, from glucosamine and chondroitin to MSM and collagen, along with many other great ingredients. That helps me meet my health objectives with fewer pills each day. The caplets are easy to swallow, and this produce gives me good dosing flexibility as I can spread the six caplets out over time if I wish. It is packaged and lab tested in the USA according to GMP, which helps to assure me that I am using a quality supplement.

It’s hard to definitively measure the effectiveness of any supplement, but I’ve been using joint support products for over 10 years, alternating between months of use and breaks. I recently switched to this product, and it seems to deliver the expected results – genuine and functional. A small note, the capsules have a noticeable essential oil scent and taste, which is an interesting touch. Overall, it’s been working well for me.

I’ve been using Glucosamine and Chondroitin with good results for probably 10 years now, so I was interested in this DoctorsWay brand, especially when I saw it was made by Horbaach. That said, to me Safety is key when choosing a supplement. To evaluate safety, I specifically look at the manufacturing of a supplement for Transparency, Accountability, and Quality.
Transparency: The Las Vegas based Horbaach brand was developed by the 3 generation Rudolph family. Apparently the senior Rudolph, Arthur, was a pioneer in today’s supplement industry when he introduced Nature’s Bounty in 1971. Son Scott is now Horbaach’s CEO, so the Horbaach brand has deep roots in the US supplement industry. A track record, as it were. I like that Horbaach is not just a distributor, but that they actually manufacture this product in the US!
Accountability: On their webpage Horbaach claims to use Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified facilities as well as to participate in third party testing. They claim to test specifically for GMO’s, Allergens, dioxins, PCBs, heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, and adulterated raw materials, which is reassuring to me. They do not identify their certifying bodies.
Quality: I can’t help but compare this to Osteo Bi-Flex and Nutri-Fusion, which are the two brands I’ve been using. First, while these thin caplets are super easy to swallow, you do need to take six of them daily (I’m okay with that). Close up the bottle has a slightly peppery smell, which I like. This supplement contains 1500 mg Glucosamine (the same as Osteo Bi-Flex), and 1200 mg of a proprietary blend that contains MSM, Chondroitin, Turmeric, Boswellia, Collagen, Citrus extract and Hyalauronic Acid (in order by amount). Osteo Bi Flex has a slightly different mix of proprietary blend, but about the same amount (1200mg) all together.
In summary, I’m very comfortable trying this new-to-me Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement. First because its founder has a pedigree and a history in the nutrition industry, but also because I love that it’s home grown so to speak. I’ll be switching to this brand and will report back after 33 days (or sooner if my hip/knee/fingers aren’t happy). (Update: At 3 weeks This Supplement is Doing exactly What I want it to. . . will keep this updated).
