Hurt at first, getting used to it. I am only not giving this full stars because I saw a foam covered wavy foam hula hoop in person, and it looked just like this one, so I thought that was what I was ordering, but this one came in and it is hard plastic, and not covered in foam.

It hurts a little at first (I barely notice it anymore, after a week) but it is easy to assemble (just snap together) and a good workout. I’ve lost an inch around my waist after just a week and my abs are starting to get some definition!

I have just started hooping for weight loss and purchased this hoop. I was having trouble with the much more expensive fancy one I’d purchased, and thought that this one may be better to learn on. I was sold when it said that the wavy design made it “very easy to use.” This is not true. I actually have a more difficult time with this one than the first one! I’m sore and bruised and those waves did not feel good on my ribs and hips. My advice: If you’re determined to try the wavy hoop, get the one with the sponge padding. It may be easier on your body. I’m going back to my plain round hoop, even though I’m tearing up the tape job because I drop it too much.

The price of his hoop was very cheap, and I received exactly what was pictured in the ad – the shop is up front about what they sell. The shipping was SUPER fast (2 days!) and it was very easy to put together. Though this specific product didn’t work for me, I’m sure to buy from this store again… maybe a trim hoop next.

In any case, I’m going to donate this one to the Y – maybe there’s a gal out there who has some padding on her middle who won’t get bruised up by the waves!!

This Hula Hoop isn’t just for teens. It’s for all adults at any weight from what I can see and a perfect weight. I’m in my 50’s and thrilled with this hoop but you need to follow the instructions for new users, 1-3 minutes to start. If you have a little pudge around your middle you won’t bruise. I took it out of the box, put it together then put one foot out in front of the other and instantly started hula hooping. The 2 lb weight of the plastic is good to keep it going and loose weight.
I haven’t hula hooped since I was a child and can’t believe I did it right off the bat. I can feel it around my middle but in a good way. I know it will widdle away the inches. It’s awesome!

I know that most of the reviews have said you will bruise. I was so stubborn and didn’t want to admit I would but I did. I’m a small asian female. It was painful the first few times b/c you won’t be use to it. This is made out of plastic NOT foam. Do not be mistaken like me. I did 5 mins on each side 2 times a week the first time. Oh man it was hell after that bc I had a small bruise on my waist. Gave myself time until the bruise healed and went right back to it and it worked! My body was used to it and it’s really fun working out, it does not feel like a work out at all. Totally get it! It’s cheap and so fun.

    I love it a lot!

(5 STARS BECAUSE- It’s a quality product and this company at least put a little effort in and created a hula hoop for A GOOD PRICE and used MATERIALS I CAN’T PICK UP AT ANY HARDWARE STORE. Most hoops bought on line are around 15-35 dollars for a basic hoop PLUS 15 or more dollars to ship AND it cost them around $35 to make 8 hoops, it’s all profit after that.)

I was searching the web for some fun exercise videos when I came across the hula hoop craze. I did a bit of research and decided to try this product.

The hoop arrived in good condition and was easy to put together with the exception of the last piece that one took a couple minutes but with persistence I got it together. The hoop is made out of plastic and feels lighter then I thought it would but it is sturdy and doesn’t pop apart when it hits the ground.
The ‘wavy’ inside can be a bit uncomfortable at times. I’m not good at hula hooping. During my first 10 minutes I think I had to start it at least 15 times and that’s when the curves start to hurt slightly. Once the hoop is going I didn’t find it uncomfortable at all.

I’ve had it for a few days now and I’m still not much better. I’d love to blame the hoop but it’s more likely my own lack of rhythm and athletic prowess.

I would purchase this product again and if I get the hang of hooping I’ll probably purchase more weights/sizes. Otherwise I’d make my own from instructions I found while searching.

    This hula hoop is awesome!

Please don’t be discouraged by negative reviews. I read almost every one of them before choosing my 2 lbs hoop.

Yes, it hearts to hoop a little for the first few days, but wearing a sweater really helps. The first day I was able to exercise 20 min, the next day I couldn’t exercise at all – it was painful. But it was a good feeling – like after a good deep tissue massage. Now I hoop w/o a sweater, I don’t feel bumps anymore (I don’t have excess fat on my tummy) and thinking of purchasing heavier hoop for myself.

Hooping became contagious in my family of six. My skinny 14 yo son hoops, my daughters hoop, my husband tries to hoop several times a day and one of my girlfriends just bought the same hoop for herself. We all hoop while watching favorite TV programs.

Yesterday I received a book with 50-min instructional DVD “Hooping – a revolutionary fitness program” by Christabel Zamor. I like the book and DVD – they give more ideas on hooping so it won’t become boring over the time and exercises give a chance to burn more calories.

Yes, and one more thing – putting the hoop together was pretty easy for me. My girlfriend asked me to help her with the last part though – I guess, I have more strength then her.
